Western medicine is very useful in treating conditions that have specific causes, and in supporting the body to help it fight illnesses & injuries. Some patients, however, seem to be predisposed to certain recurring conditions, or have difficulty recovering from otherwise straight-forward conditions. Traditional Chinese Medicine looks at the body as a whole unit, and identifies the patient’s predispositions for imbalances, and which Organs may be deficient (in illness) or which Meridians may be blocked (in injury).
Acupuncture, a part of Traditional Chinese Medicine, works to rebalance the body; it stimulates the body’s innate healing capacity, by moving Qi along the meridians – either to tonify deficient Organs in disease, or to release Qi blockages in cases of pain, injury, swelling and nerve dysfunction. We use this powerful modality as an additional therapy to assist our Western Medicine approach . It is especially useful for pain management, physiotherapy, recovery from surgery and chronic & recurring conditions.
Veterinary physical rehabilitation offers many benefits for pets recovering from an injury or surgery. The rehabilitation involves several therapies that can be deployed alone or in combination with Traditional Western Veterinary Medicine. We use therapeutic laser and physical manipulation to help our patients.
